The NATURSEA-PV consortium held its Month 36 General Assembly in Valencia on October 29–30, 2025, marking a key milestone in the project’s final year. Partners from across Europe gathered to review progress, align on next steps, and witness firsthand the tangible results of three years of collaborative research.

The highlight of the assembly was the technical visit to PREFFOR’s facilities, where the consortium had the opportunity to inspect the floating support structures in Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC). These modular, bio-inspired pilons are designed to host photovoltaic platforms in offshore environments. Their readiness signals the beginning of the real-sea demonstration phase, with deployment scheduled in the coming months.

Unlike many research projects, NATURSEA-PV will generate field data from actual marine conditions, offering rare insights into the long-term performance and durability of floating solar infrastructure. This real-world testing is essential to validate the system’s feasibility and scalability.

In parallel, the project is advancing its social, environmental, and economic impact assessment. Surveys are being conducted in Ireland, Spain, and Italy to understand how floating solar platforms might affect maritime communities.

With the prototype ready, testing imminent, and community engagement underway, NATURSEA-PV is entering its final year with momentum, clarity, and a shared European vision for sustainable offshore solar energy.
